Melanie Harris

Ms. Harris was appointed Principal of East Elementary School in July 2023. Prior to East Elementary School, she held multiple roles in the Florence City School System. She was an Assistant Principal at Hibbett Intermediate School, Instructional Partner at Harlan Elementary, and math teacher at Florence Middle School. She was an AMSTI trainer and partnered with A+ College Ready to help write the 7th grade math curriculum and enjoyed being a trainer for them as well. She was awarded the 2023 Alabama Elementary Assistant Principal of the Year. She held various extra curricular roles such as math team coach, yearbook sponsor, and leadership chair.

About Assistant Principal Gragg

Nic Gragg, Ed.S., graduated from Good Hope High School (2000). He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of West Alabama (2005) and was also a men’s basketball team member. Mr. Gragg earned his master’s in Educational Leadership and Administration from the University of Alabama (2007) and completed his Ed.S. in Instructional Leadership through the University of North Alabama (2017).  Mr. Gragg is starting his 19th year in education and his 10th year as an administrator. Mr. Gragg is married to Kristen Gragg. They have two children, Noble (13) and Nola (11).
